All drivers who have passed their driving test since the 1st January 1997 are required to pass additional tests to gain the necessary entitlements to drive larger combinations.

The current driving test ( B ) Car, entitles you to drive a car with a trailer up to 750kg Maximum Authorised Mass (MAM) or a trailer with a MAM greater than 750kg, providing the trailer MAM does not exceed the unladen weight of the towing vehicle, Maximum combined MAM of 3500kg.

The B+E Test then allows you to tow a trailer over 750kg MAM, With no maximum limit on combined weight, the combined weight depends on your vehicle and that recommended by your manufacturer.
